We would like to thank you in advance for your support.
Key facts about our world sight problems:
Deteriorating sight can have a devastating impact on people's lives and livelihoods something as simple as a pair of glasses with the correct prescription can turn such potential despair into hope. Eye care services are beyond the reach of most people in the developing world.
•670 million people worldwide (10% of the global population) suffer because they don't have the right spectacles to achieve good vision. This can easily be treated with a new pair of prescription glasses.
•Over half a billion older people have blurred vision that effects close-work such as reading or sewing. This is due to ageing of the eye, a very normal process. This can easily be treated with a new pair of prescription glasses.
•13 million children around the world risk missing their education because they can’t see well enough to learn. This can easily be treated with a new pair of prescription glasses.
•The main reasons people cannot get glasses in low and middle income countries are: a lack of trained eye care professionals; inadequate facilities to get an eye test and to manufacture glasses; and because the high cost of glasses is often too expensive for the average citizen.
